Catholic cemetery, Romanshorn TG

Starting in 2025, a 110-square-meter amphibian pond with 443 square meters of ecologically valuable surrounding habitat will be created on an unused lawn in Romanshorn. This habitat consists of tall forb communities, wet meadows, and flower meadows, as well as native trees and shrubs. In total, more than 60 native plant species have been planted. The project is expected to benefit various amphibian species such as the common toad, reptiles, and many other animal species dependent on wetlands. In May 2026, Alpine newt larvae (Ichthyosaura alpestris), the common tentacled snail (Bithynia tentaculata), the common backswimmer (Notonecta glauca), and wall lizards (Podarcis muralis) were observed.
The project raises the area's ecological value from 2 to 5 or 6 biotope values. 
It will also connect six smaller existing biotopes in the neighbourhood, providing a valuable addition to the ecologically significant Schlossberg and Lake Constance park habitats.

This project was initiated by Get Nature Positive and implemented in collaboration with the Grüner Güggel group of the Catholic parish. However, the area is not available for offsetting sealed surfaces.
