Wasenbächli-Hammer, Cham ZG

Starting in 2025, a species-rich Fromental meadow will be created on a species-poor wet meadow along the banks of the Wasenbächli in Cham. Specially selected seeds from the same biogeographic region were used, and the hemiparastitic species Rhinanthus alectorolophus, was sown at a later date. This is intended to suppress grasses and promote flowering plants.

According to monitoring in May 2026, a heterogeneous, wet meadow with at least 32 plant species has been established. In the eastern section, a Fromental meadow high ecological quality was identified over an area of 150 m². Additionally, sown Rhinanthus plants are visible in the middle of the area parallel to the small road. Along the Wasenbächli stream and in the western part, the vegetation corresponds to a moist Fromental meadow. During the monitoring, the auditor observed a starling (Sturnus vulgaris) and cinnamon bugs (Corizus hyoscyami).

As of May 2026, the ecological value of this area has improved from an original 2.5 to 4.2 biotope values. Thanks to its proximity to a body of water, this area is optimally connected to the surrounding landscape.
